"Baby Emilie was 9 minutes old when Thierry Bouët photographed her for a series on babies in the first hour of their lives. New York used the photo—along with a fresh and fun type treatment—to great effect in its amusing, and affecting, “Health”-issue cover."

When I look at this magazine cover, I am immediately interested, partially because of the tilted lettering but also because of the baby. She is only nine minutes old at the time of the picture, which makes this very beautiful in its own way. I do love how they made some of the cover lines interact with the picture behind it, but the lines inside the baby's mouth are too small to read. Otherwise, I think this magazine cover does exactly what it is meant to do, catch your attention.

Because of the white background the baby is the only thing that could grab your attention, and the lighting seems to be very good for a picture taken only nine minutes after birth.  The cover lines are attention grabbing because of how they relate to the picture, through positioning.  The picture of the baby is communicating beauty, vulnerability, and appealing to the readers sense for protecting the baby. It does this just through the subject matter of the picture.
