Academics Shoot Preview

The Story: This photograph, 'Feeding the Homeless', gives us a story of each of the people involved, telling us about their lives, and also showing the people who take their time out of their day to help the less fortunate.

Action and Emotion: This photograph, 'Water Lab', easily takes the cake for action and emotion. Just look at the faces of the students involved, and the great shot of the water particles, forever motionless in the air.

Filling the Frame: 'Wonder', the name of this photograph, really fills the picture up with interesting subjects, the substance in the middle makes the observer think, the angle of the picture allows for a complete understanding of the situation, and the number of people fit into the frame is quite well done as well.

Favorite Photo: I picked this photo because of the experiment the subjects are working with, and the action shot that the photographer was able to attain.
Some evident rules of photography are lines, balance, and framing.

Composition Shoot

1. Simplicity

        1. I think I followed the rules correctly, and payed attention to the criteria.
        2. The subject of this picture is the fire alarm.
        3. It is pretty obvious the subject is the fire alarm.

2. Rule of Thirds

        1. I think the rules were followed almost perfectly, because Andrew is near the third of the screen.
        2. The subject is Andrew
        3. It is quite clear what the subject is.

3. Lines

        1. I think I followed the rules averagely, with some mistakes, but still acceptable.
        2. The subject is still Andrew
        3. The subject is pretty obviously noticed.

4. Balance

        1. I think the rules were followed fairly well here.
        2. The subject is the entire hallway.
        3. It may be difficult at first glance to understand the subject, but a second look would reveal it.

5. Framing

        1. I think the rules were followed fairly well in this photograph.
        2. The subject is Evelyn.
        3. The subject is quite obvious, because she is the only thing in the picture.

6. Merger

        1. I think the rules were followed well in this picture.
        2. The subject is the person walking away from the camera.
        3. The subject is obvious as the rest of the picture is bland.

Reflection

1. Some challenges I ran into would be finding ideas for the photos, opportunities being just too fleeting, and trying to make each picture closer to perfect.
2. For me, I was thinking about the focus constantly, because I had a hard time with shaking the camera, blurring the photo. I kept it in mind and I got better at staying still.

The Man with the Golden Voice

1. He is wearing a camouflage shirt over a white hoodie. His hair is unkept and windblown, in need of a serious trim. He looks like he has been unable to have good hygiene, and he looks like he has spent to much time in the sun. His teeth are gnarly and unclean.  He is on a sidewalk by a large roadway, near a Lowe's.
2. His voice sounds like a TV or radio announcer. It is very crisp and deep, smooth and silky.
3. When the reporter finds him, he is asking for money on a median, and living on the streets.
4. What makes him worthy of a story is that his story relays the idea of hope, of losing it all but holding on to a passion, to keep on keeping on.
5. Three details that make this story interesting are the position he is in, being homeless definitely pulls a few heartstrings, the gift he has, his voice that separates him from any other everyday homeless person, and his life story, which, again, makes you feel a little sorry for him, but he is hopeful that things will turn up.

2015 in Review

World Events- http://www.endmemo.com/events/2015.php
This list contains happenings in the world, but only those that affect us as a world wide community.
One of the more interesting entries in this list is the discovery of flowing, liquid water on Mars. This very well could be the start to a whole new era for the human race!
Celebrity News-http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/pictures/biggest-celebrity-scandals-2015-2015207/46443
This list holds information on different events that have one thing in common, they have celebrities involved.
I think the most interesting article in this list is the scandal of the Patriots deflating the footballs in the NFL last season.
Famous Deaths- http://www.cnn.com/specials/world/obit-2015
This list contains people whom you may have heard of, authors, stars, secondary actors, and others, who died during 2015.
The entry that catches my attention is the one on Leonard Nimoy, or Spock from the original Star Trek.
Entertainment- http://www.gamespot.com/gallery/top-25-games-of-2015/2900-430/
This list is of the top games of 2015 by gamespot. Personally, I do not at all agree with this list, it seems that many of the games don't deserve top spots, while some that are deserving do not make an appearance!
I think the most interesting on this list is how a city building simulator, with below average graphics, even MADE it on to this list!!!
Local News- http://austin.blog.statesman.com/category/top-stories-of-2015/
This list contains only news that relates to our fair city of Austin, Texas.
Probably the most important on this list is the legalization of Same Sex Marriage.
Photos- https://www.audubon.org/magazine/may-june-2015/2015-audubon-photography-awards-top-100#1
Audubon's top 100 beautiful photos of 2015, absolutely breath taking.
The most eye opening photo in this list would have to be number 2. I think it should take the first spot. This is a picture of a bird, underwater, surrounded by a ring of fish on all sides. Stunning.

 (3rd Coming Soon)
This is a list of the top 30 Super Smash Bros. Melee plays of 2015. Unfortunately, it is split into three parts,
but the third part has yet to come out.
The most interesting play in this list is number 21, because it has never happened, and likely will not
happen again, in the 14 years Melee has existed. The player managed to take 12 lives without losing his 4,
winning the crew battle for his team nearly single handedly.
